Capacitar organizes national, international and regional gatherings to strengthen networking and outreach. The gatherings are open to people who have participated in Capacitar trainings, who are using the practices in their daily lives, and who are multiplying the work profession or with their families and communities.
The goals of the gatherings are to:
- Promote networking and collaboration on local, national, regional & internatinal levels
- Share experiences of how Capacitar is being used with groups
- Provide information and new training for teams and individuals in areas of interest and need
- Share resources and expertise among participants
- Encourage leadership and collaboration among participants in planning for future
growth and development.
Regional Conferences of Central America
Capacitar held three regional gatherings (1998, 2000, 2001) in Central America attended by people from six countries (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize, Mexico, and the United States).
National Gathering for US and Border Communities
The first U.S. National Gathering was held in 2004 in San Diego, California, with 55 participants from 8 states and Mexican border communities of Texas and California.
Capacitar International Gatherings
20th Anniversary Global Celebration - July 20-23, 2008
Capacitar celebrated 20 years of solidarity and global outreach in July 2008 with a conference at La Casa de Maria in Santa Barbara, CA. Eighty-five men and women representing Capacitar teams from 20 countries participated.
The three-day gathering included workshops and presentations from teams, cultural exchange, rituals, music, dance and an evening presentation open to the larger community. Twenty-five of the participants also visited Northern
California for learning and sharing experiences. This included presentations in Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Francisco.
2006 International Gathering at Sophia Center
In 2006 Capacitar convened its first international gathering as part of the Sophia Center Summer Institute: Cosmology of Health, at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA. Twenty-two team members and board members from
Represented seven countries: Tanzania, Argentina, Ireland, Guatemala, Indonesia, Texas/Mexico, and 5 states in the U.S. Participants shared their Capacitar work in their respective countries and regions. Six members were part
of a panel for the Capacitar keynote and described their healing work in their countries.
